Reclaim The Flower

Recall the fixed gaze of someone on their phone as they sit on a bench or walk slowly down the street, oblivious of all else, lost in cyberspace.

Imagine walking past – you are not registered at any significant level.

Now: Imagine the person frozen in time. You walk up to them and gently remove the phone from their cupped hand to place instead a small bouquet of wildflowers in their palm.

Step back. Now you have a person riveted not by a metal and plastic rectangle, but entranced by an exuberant expression of our wild earth.

Another world is possible!

Imagine the power of this vision to wake up our lost reverence for this living breathing planet.

Let’s reclaim the precious flower of our attention and imagination.

Join us in this action of theatre and protest at big tech’s colonization of our lives! Bring an element of this animate Earth to hold: a flower, a shell, the bark of a tree, a fossil etc, anything from the natural world large enough to be held as you would a phone, and seen by passers by.

Meet: outside Kings Cross St Pancras station in London on Saturday 14th September at 1pm, opposite the Regents Canal exit: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tpUTGaXryNxxbC8C7

We will be walking to the side of the Francis Crick Institute nearby for practice and from there to Google HQ.
